Alessandra de Almeida Lucas

Materials Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (1996), a Master's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (1998) and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (2003). She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Engineering, working mainly on the following research topics: polymer composites and nanobiocomposites with lignocellulosic fibers, biobased and biodegradable polymers, their blends, composites and nanocomposites, conductive composites and nanocomposites based on graphite and other carbon structures and conductive fillers, recycling of industrial and post-consumer polymer waste. She was vice-coordinator and coordinator of the undergraduate course in Materials Engineering at UFSCar between June 2015 and June 2019. During this management, she coordinated 3.5 years of execution of the Institutional Modernization Project (PMG Brazil-USA) of the Materials Engineering course at UFSCar (2019-2027), funded by CAPES and the Fulbright Commission (USA), and since then has directed efforts in research in Engineering Education for entrepreneurship (self-, intra- and socio-environmental impact entrepreneurship), and Engineering Education and Leadership for Sustainability. Coordinator of the Midas Mongaru Network - Education for Circularity in the Plastics Chain, focused on educational actions for the circularity of polymeric materials and intersection with basic education at all levels, as a tool for the socioeconomic and environmental transformation of communities and encouraging young people to study courses in the STEAM areas, specially underrepresented population, (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
