Several authors have considered long-term survival data modeling with a destructive component. In this project, we aim to study parametric as well as semiparametric approaches to this situation. Computational routines will be developed and practical implications evaluated.
The project consists in the study and application of the Random Survival Forests technique, introduced by Ishwaran et al (2008). The main objectives are: to compare the random forests technique with the traditional survival methods and to evaluate the possibility of using this methodology to analyze data from patients with endocarditis.
