Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto Oceanográfico (IO)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

He earned his Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculdade da Região dos Lagos (2007), obtained a Master's degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the National Museum/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro MN/UFRJ (2010), and completed a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Zoology) at the University of São Paulo IB/USP (2015). He undertook two postdoctoral fellowships at the Laboratory of Deep-Sea Ecology and Evolution (LAMP) at the Oceanographic Institute of the University of São Paulo, where he conducted research on the biodiversity, biogeography, and ecology of benthic invertebrates associated with chemosynthetic habitats (e.g., cold seeps) and organic falls, with an emphasis on whale falls along the Brazilian continental margin. During his first postdoctoral position (FAPESP Fellow), he participated in projects investigating the evolutionary and ecological processes underlying deep-sea fauna, employing integrative approaches. In his second postdoctoral position (Shell Brazil Fellow), he coordinated research initiatives linked to RD projects, leading oceanographic expeditions and fostering inter-institutional collaborations focused on the characterization of deep-sea benthic environments. During this period, he also served as a Level III Collaborating Professor in the Department of Biological Oceanography at the University of São Paulos Oceanographic Institute. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Biology at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), where he teaches at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He is a faculty member of the Graduate Program in Animal Biology at UFRRJ (PPGBA), and his research interests include integrative taxonomy, reproductive biology, biogeography, and evolution of benthic animals from both coastal and deep-sea environments, with a particular focus on polychaete annelids. He also has extensive experience in studies on the ecology and monitoring of exotic and invasive species, with emphasis on their distribution, ecological impacts, and management strategies in marine ecosystems.
