Abstract

In this article, we study the root multiplicities of the indefinite type Kac-Moody algebra-modules and then use the path realization of crystal bases for these modules and Kang's multiplicity formula to find their multiplicities. In particular, we prove that mult(-2(-1)-k) is a polynomial in n of degree k. We observe that Frenkel's conjectured root multiplicity bound holds in this case. (AU)
