Abstract

Neoschoengastia is a genus of chiggers that mainly parasitizes birds and is comprised of more than 70 described species widely distributed throughout the world. Here we improve the description of the species Neoschoengastia esorhina based on the type series, also providing drawings of these types. This species is known only from the type series, which was collected in Ananindeua City, Para State, parasitizing Automolus infuscatus (Passeriformes: Furnariidae). (AU)
