Abstract

This work reports the fabrication of agar ball lenses, an biodegradable, edible, and renewable material. Pouring melted agar-glycerol-water solutions into vegetable oil produces transparent spheres whose refractive index and diameter change with glycerol concentration and agitation speed. Results confirm the agar lens feasibility for imaging suggesting possible applications. (AU)
