Abstract

Dog food from 24 regular 1 kg bags of the same production lot was evaluated by LS-NAA and conventional NAA. After analyzing the entire content of bags by LS-NAA, one test portion of 350 mg from each bag was evaluated by NAA. Br, Ca, K, Na and Zn could be measured by LS NAA and, except for K, the variability was higher than the uncertainty of measurement, indicating differences of composition between bags. The variation of results obtained from conventional NAA agreed with that from LS-NAA, confirming the representativeness of the small portions. (AU)
