Abstract

In this work, aluminum- and vanadium-modified magadiites with Si/Al = 15 and Si/V =33 molar ratios were obtained by Seed Induced Crystallization (SIC) method and the solid was investigated in relation to its acidity. The catalysts were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), solid state magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS-NMR), temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia (NH3-TPD) and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy in situ (FTIR). Crystalline [Al]-and [V]-magadiites were successfully obtained in which metal ions were inserted in the structure of the solid in tetrahedral coordination. The acidities of [M]-magadiites were used in catalytic ethanol conversion monitored by in situ FTIR: ethylene (949 cm(-1)) and acetaldehyde (1760-1730 cm(-1)) were the products obtained.
