Abstract

Wind generation growth reflects the need to standardize and revise the wind generator protection schemes. Regarding the full variable-speed wind turbine, this paper proposes an impact analysis of the grounding configuration in fault current behavior, in order to assist and standardize the future protection adjustment. A real time digital simulator was used to extract the internal fault oscillographs. Results show that the grounding configuration of a grid-side transformer, converter and generator influence the system fault behavior, which may affect the system protection. (AU)
