Abstract

The Sao Paulo Microtron 10 - 100 keV electron beam-line described here was designed to allow precise measurements of the electron-atom interaction cross-sections using reproducible arrangements. The irradiation chamber has thirteen spectroscopy windows for x-ray detectors and a multi-target ladder. The photon background on the target was reduced by using a large and deep Faraday cup, lining the chamber's interior with plastic, and mounting the targets in carbon fiber frames. The current research plan includes measurements of: electron doubly differential bremsstrahlung cross sections; inner shell ionization cross sections; angular distributions of L X-rays, and the angular distribution of scattered electrons.
