Abstract

One of the most active and interesting fields in Nuclear Physics nowadays is the area of exotic nuclei, with large excess in neutron or proton number. New research areas were opened with the advent of accelerators producing secondary beams of radioactive nuclei, where the nuclear m9dels can be tested close to the drip-line, in extreme conditions of isospin, binding energy or anomalous density distributions. The impact of these studies can be noticed also in correlated fields, as for instance in Nuclear Astrophysics, where the inclusion of reactions paths out of the stability valley can have a strong impact on abundances from stellar or primordial nucleosynthesis. With the installation of a system of double superconducting solenoids in the Pelletron¬-LINAC Laboratory, we became the first experimental facility in the Southem Hemisphere, where secondary radioactive beams will be produced.
