Abstract

ABSTRACT This article analyzes the award and censorship of the book Luuanda by the Angolan author José Luandino Vieira, based on documents from the International Police and State Defense/General Directorate of Security (PIDE/DGS) from the National Archive of Torre do Tombo, in Lisbon (Portugal), and Portuguese and Angolan bibliography. It situates the events in Salazar’s fascist regime and points out the different treatment that he gave to Portuguese intellectuals and to the Angolan author. (AU)
