Abstract | |
ABSTRACT Carbofuran and 3-hydroxycarbofuran residues were monitored in water samples from paddy rice fields up to the outlet of water in the river Paraíba do Sul. The insecticide and its metabolite were extracted in C18 solid-phase cartridges. The eluted compounds were analyzed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography and fluorescence detection. The maximum level of found carbofuran residues was 20.0 µgL-1. Carbofuran residues were detected until 49 days after the insecticide application at the level of 1.0 µg L-1. The metabolite 3-hydroxycarbofuran was not detected in any water sample. The persistence of carbofuran was relatively short in rice plots. (AU) |
