Saturable absorption in the C-Band employing 2D 1T'-MoTe2

Abstract

We investigate 1T'-MoTe2 as a saturable absorber for silicon photonics applications. Pulsed measurement for a mono- and few-layers transferred onto an optical fiber tip shows a saturation intensity of (0.14 +/- 0.04) MW/cm(2). A simple model for the saturation predicts a saturation value of 0.09MW/cm(2). (AU)
