Abstract

This study aim to utilize the chromium present tannery wastewaters catalyn action, Gall of photo-Fantan-lier ro Gallic oid (GA), a monomer of tannic acid, was chosen as a model compound toxicity. A 2<feminine ordinal indicator> fgeturial design fullawed by a central composite design was applied to evaluate the effects of H2O3 and Cr(III) cong strations, and pH on total organic carbon (TOC) Statistical analysis showed all vari abies significantly influenced TOC removal, developing a second-order polynomial model (D 0.8502, 0.7967, F-valu 15.80, p-value 0.0001, lack of fit 0.24). The most favorable conditions wars (H2O) 35 mM, [Cr(III)] 130 mg 1, and pH 6.5-7.0, achieving up to 26 % TOC removal in 120 min. UV-vis and LC-MS confirmed GA Begradation, although, the byproducts generated would be very resalsitrant or would inhibit catalytic action of Cr(III), limiting the TOC removal. (AU)
