Abstract

Abstract In this article, I revisit and discuss the relevance of some theses on football fans offered by authors linked to the critical perspective of sport, in order to pave the way for a more constructive approach to the development of a (critical) social psychology of fandom. In conducting this discussion, I analyse how this perspective has approached the “fan-mass”, the fans themselves, their bodies and their capacity for political organization. Having done this, I advocate the use of a multiperspectivist approach as an instrument for psychosocial analysis of football fans. (AU)
