Abstract

The coupling between rare-earth ions and localized surface plasmons has been recently investigated, especially under controlled temperature. This research explores the quantum-plasmonic behavior in Au nanoparticles embedded in Er3+-tellurite glasses. The Er3+ emission at 1536 nm is analyzed, and a significant enhancement of the FWHM and the emission intensities are obtained. Such enhancements result from the improvement of the localized surface plasmon and Er3+ coupling since, under cooling conditions, the plasmon modes expand, increasing the local field enhancement.
