Abstract

This work was set up at São Manuel Experimental Farm (FCA/UNESP, in São Manuel-SP), to evaluate fruit and seed production in sweet pepper at protected cultivation with plant vibration. Four commercial hybrids (Magali R, Margarita, Rúbia R e Elisa) and two vibration treatments (1- without plant vibration; 2- with plant vibration), totalizing eight treatments (factorial: 4 hybrids x 2 vibration treatments) were evaluated in randomized blocks design, with six replicates and five plants per plot. Greater fruit number per plant were obtained in Magali R hybrid, but its fruits presented smaller average weight, resulting in no yield difference among hybrids. Plant vibration did not affect the characteristics evaluated (fruit yield, average fruit weight and seed number per fruit). Probably, natural autogamy rates in these hybrids is great and plant vibration had no effect in fruit and seed yield, even without pollination insects and wind to shake plants. (AU)
