| Abstract | |
The advance in new nanostructured materials technology is promoted by the development of new synthesis and characterization methods. The attention on the enormous specific surface area intrinsically associated to this material family and specifically on the physical-chemistry properties has been underestimated. BaTiO3 is an important material for producing ferroelectric ceramics and special attention is focused on the large potential offered by the properties of nanoparticles of this oxide. Our work proposes the understanding of the surface properties of BaTiO3 nanoparticles prepared by the polymeric precursor method. We dedicated a particular attention to the carbonates species formed during the polymeric precursor pyrolysis on the powder surface for which characterization was done by DRIFT and dynamic electrophoretic mobility. The powder synthesis and the structure were investigated by X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis and electron microscopy. The simultaneous analysis by dynamic electrophoretic mobility and DRIFT versus pH carbonated shows that it is possible to eliminate the carbonate species adsorbed onto the powder surface. (AU) | |
