Resumo

Documentos digitais (e.g., imagens, vídeos) estão em toda parte --- desde nossos celulares a websites de notícias. No entanto, o que podemos fazer com as diferentes técnicas de processamento de documentos digitais disponíveis atualmente traz à tona uma diversidade surpreendente de questões legais e éticas que precisamos tratar. A manipulação de uma imagem é apropriada em casos onde a mesma imagem pode afetar o comportamento das pessoas? Como saber se uma imagem representa um crime ou uma situação que nunca existiu? Antes de qualquer ação policial ser empregada baseada em um documento questionável, precisamos analisar o documento em si. Investigadores provenientes dos mais diversos campos da Ciência precisam das melhores abordagens e ferramentas para lidar com os desafios apresentados pelas técnicas de processamento maliciosas disponíveis atualmente. Neste projeto de pesquisa, propomos a investigação de possíveis soluções para problemas de Computação Forense Digital relacionados à coleta, organização, classificação e análise de evidências digitais. Em relação à coleta e organização, procuramos abordagens para reduzir a utilização errônea e ingênua de possíveis evidências importantes. Com respeito à classificação, buscamos soluções que nos permitam categorizar as evidências de modo a reduzir o esforço técnico necessário durante sua análise. Finalmente, em relação à análise, objetivamos investigar a fonte originadora de um determinado documento, como sua autenticidade. Na identificação da fonte originadora, buscamos identificar o modelo particular de um dispositivo de captura (e.g., scanner, câmera, impressora), ou o dispositivo exato, que fez a captura de um documento. Na detecção de manipulações, procuramos estabelecer a autenticidade de um documento ou expor quaisquer manipulações que este possa ter sofrido. Propomos realizar esta pesquisa em colaboração com nossos parceiros da Polícia Federal do Brasil e com a Polícia Técnico-Científica do Estado de São Paulo. (AU)
