Abstract

This request for financial aid is connected to a research program started in 2013 and led by the beneficiary and the visiting researcher candidate, which resulted in relevant indicators of scientific production and human resources training. The research projects developed so far have had as their basis the collection and analysis of empirical evidence on international economic relations involving Brazil and other countries of the Global South. It has been diagnosed that international economic law has been constructed by a universalizing narrative that blurs particularities of non-central actors of the international economic system, resulting in categories that are not representative of the complexity of relations regulated by it.The plan of activities for the visiting researcher, in addition to continuing this empirical research profile, has the objective to make viable the next step of the research program, which consists in making a critical reflection leap based on the empirical evidence gathered jointly. This leap consists in re-reading international economic relations based on critical approaches that can favor the expansion of analytical categories and the identification of common patterns of oppression and emancipation for the Global South. More specifically, one is interested in identifying how resistance narratives construct and reconstruct dogmatic categories of international economic law. In addition, the intended research financial aid would promote the scientific integration around this research program between the institutions of the beneficiary (FGV) and the visiting researcher (UFRGS), with direct repercussions on the local training of human resources.
