Multi-user equipment approved in grant 2017/50349-0: control system for vibration equipment

Abstract

Vibration equipment is used to evaluate the performance of products and packaging against transport simulations with rail, air or road profiles, verifying the suitability of the product-packaging assembly to the transport medium to be used in the distribution of the product. In general, the development of a package can only be validated after evaluating its performance against the transport and distribution stages. Considering the dimensions of Brazil, a real transport for such validation can reach four days, considering routes between cities of the State of São Paulo and the Northeast region, and fourteen days when the final destination is in the northern region of the country. In this way, the most appropriate way to carry out this validation is with the use of vibration equipment. Vibration tests, which may be based on international standards or vibration recordings on the routes of interest, facilitate this process, as it is an accelerated simulation, and offer standardized and reproducible conditions, unlike the evaluations carried out in real transport. This investment was prioritized, once it will allow the modernization of the control of the vibration equipment of the Laboratory of Packaging and Distribution of ITAL. It has fundamental application for the development of packaging systems and will contribute to the Strategic Area of "Innovation in Products and Processes", especially in the researches planned for the development of packaging system for fresh produce.
