Abstract

The rapid urban sprawl of the world's great cities has had many repercussions on people's lives. One of these repercussions is the need for new tools supporting the accomplishment of different daily activities, for example, to know about the current traffic situation in specific points of the city, about the bicycles-sharing points, about timetables and bus routes, etc. Another repercussion is directly related to the business opportunities that are created in an inherent way with the urbanization progress, for example, through the exponential increase of a variety of business stores to meet the different needs and demands of the increasing number of people living in these large cities. However, many business opportunities are lost or not properly exploited because of the difficulty investors and business owners have in identifying the right places to open new stores and/or offices, or to identify the business category to be opened in a certain place. In this way, in order to offer support to investors and business owners as well as marketing professionals, in this project we propose the development of an intelligent system capable of: i) discover geographic areas with the greatest potential to host a specific business category, and ii) recommend places available for purchase / rent located in the geographical areas discovered and with potential to house the new store / office to be opened. The schedule for the development of this project is directed to the elaboration of a functional prototype and to the accomplishment of the respective alpha tests, which will allow to evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of the same, for later search for new funding sources.
