Abstract

The proposal of this project is to study and develop an apparatus to control the ethyl carbamate content in the sugar cane spirit. The apparatus to be developed will be consisted of a material with catalytic properties based on metal ions adsorbed on the apparatus and should be installed inside the distillation column. The technical and scientific proposal feasibility will be carried out through reduction efficiency analyzes of the ethyl carbamate content in the distillate. From experiments with known ethyl carbamate precursors concentrations and the immobilization yield of the metal ions on the apparatus to be developed. The purpose is to obtain an efficient commercial product to ethyl carbamate control for implementation in the process destined for the sugar cane spirit production. This product should be able to tolerate the ethanol-rich atmosphere within the distillation column. And also, ensure that the distillate meets the standards of identity and quality for cane spirit and cachaça monitored by the current legislation. (AU)
