Abstract

Photobiomodulation (PBM) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) have been reported as viable strategies for the treatment of numerous diseases. However, the success rate of the treatments directly depends on the complex dosimetric analysis of optical parameters that limit its ease of use. Commercially available clinical systems are capable of covering and performing dosimetric calibrations limited to specific lesion areas and require physical contact between the irradiator and the patient. Also, current equipment do not have internet connection and therefore do not allow software, suggested protocols or usage log updates. Our irradiators will be equipped with microprocessors programmed with sufficient information to allow automated recognition and dosimetry calculation immediately after connection with the controller device. The irradiator for large areas will be equipped with a known optical divergence system and distance sensors to enable the irradiation of large lesions without physical contact and to automatically perform the dosimetric calculation adjusted to the distance. The controller module will be programmed using python and bash scripts together to operate the integrated digital board with graphical interface at the firmware level. The software updates and usage records of the equipment will be carried out by Wi-Fi communication with a cloud server, which will be accessed through a online application that will be available on our company website.
