Abstract

The aim of this in vitro study is to evaluate the influence of brushing and thermocycling on the optical properties, roughness and surface topography of monolithic ceramic materials based on feldspar ceramic, leucite, lithium disilicate, lithium silicate reinforced with zirconia, zirconia and hybrid ceramic. Bar specimens (N=100, 12,0 x 10,0 x 2,0 mm) for each material will be obtained and divided in two groups: Control (N50) and Stain (N50) in which samples will receive the application of their respective extrinsic pigment. The following tests will be performed: 1-brushing with conventional dentifrice (Colgate Total 12-Clean Mint), 2-brushing with whitening toothpaste (Colgate Total 12 Professional Whitening), 3-thermocycling (10.000 cycles, 5-55C, 30 s), 4-brushing with conventional dentifrice and thermocycling, 5-brushing with whitening toothpaste and thermocycling. The optical properties of color change and brightness of the samples will be evaluated using a spectrophotometer (VITA Easyshade Advance 4.0) according to CIELab parameters (L, a and b, ”L and ”E). Mean surface roughness (Ra) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis will be performed to evaluate topographic changes. The data will be submitted to normality and homoscedasticity tests to select the statistical method to be used for the resuls analysis. 95.0 percent significance level will be adopted. (AU)
