Investigations of sustainable solutions for the integration of emerging technologies into the energy distribution systems of the future

Abstract

The main subject of investigation, from a general perspective, is centered on the concept of electrical energy distribution systems of the future. By systems of the future, one should understand distribution systems with high level of integration of the following emerging technologies: photovoltaic generators, wind generators (in rural areas), electric vehicles, energy storage systems, smart meters for billing and monitoring purposes and waveform meters with high sampling rate. In this context, the main objectives can be highlighted as: strengthen the area of electrical energy distribution systems of the future at the host research group at FEEC/UNICAMP; intensively integrate a senior researcher, currently retired, into a research group strongly supported by FAPESP; incorporate this collaboration in the development of many projects supported by FAPESP in the area of electric power systems; and design a planning guide (roadmap) for the development of research projects related to the subject of electric systems of the future, taking into account the emerging technologies integrated into the systems. This roadmap will be used to guide the researches that will be developed by the host group in this subject in the next 5-10 years. (AU)
