Abstract

The technological advancement fosters continuous improvements in power systems worldwide, particularly with the advent of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). The integration of DERs, such as photovoltaic generator systems, wind power, and energy storage systems, into distribution systems is highly emphasized in this scenery, as it defers substantial investments. Microgrids, in this context, facilitate the intelligent integration of DERs, ensuring that with a power system management it is possible to coordinate diverse resources to achieve a robust and reliable operation..In this regard, energy storage systems play a fundamental role, ensuring system operation during failures in the main electrical grid. However, in grid-connected operations, battery energy storage systems can operate to ensure the maximum utilization of distributed generation from renewable sources, engaging in peak shaving or energy arbitration, and offering ancillary services by smoothing the demand curve of consumers. Therefore, this scientific initiation project aims to study and implement strategies for smoothing the demand curve using a Gaussian filter and forecasting photovoltaic generation in the Smart Electric Grids Laboratory (LabREI) at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UNICAMP. The goal is to achieve a trustworthy, efficient, and robust operation of the microgrid, taking into account different scenarios of load and photovoltaic generation within the P&D MERGE project - Microgrids for Efficient, Reliable and Greener Energy, and the project considers insertion into the ongoing thematic project FAPESP 2021/11380-5.
