Abstract

Information security is one of the main problems of humanity. The damage caused by cyber attacks already outweighs the damage caused by all drugs combined. Criminal organizations even recruit and train zombie armies with more than 300,000 devices and perform distributed denial-of-service attacks that hit more than 1 Tb/s. Most threats are detected long after they occur because of the high complexity of the increasingly specialized attacks and the enormous mass of data to be monitored and analyzed by security experts, increasing the risk of irreparable damage and rendering unfeasible any attempt of defense.With exponential growth of Internet of Things devices, it is estimated that more than 75 billion devices interconnected on the Internet by 2025. These devices do not have the processing and memory capacity to properly secure them. Therefore, the growth of cybernetic vulnerabilities should receive special attention from developed countries to ensure security and privacy. On the other hand, the technology of communication network virtualization, provided in the 5th generation (5G) networks,allied to machine learning techniques and parallel cloud computing are powerful tools for mitigating the growing cyber attacks.The purpose of the ACCRUE project - SFI, Advanced and Collaborative Research Infrastructure for Secure Future Internet, is to conduct research, develop mechanisms and design security tools based on network function virtualization (NFV), Software Defined Network (SDN), and blockchain. The infrastructure is based on cloud architectures for information systems in general and FOG/MEC architectures for cyber physical systems (CPS) on the Internet of Things. (AU)
