Abstract

Technologies of Information and Communication, particularly the Internet, profoundly reconfigured the dynamics of conflicts in contemporary society at different layers. In this context, this project aims at building an Observatory of Internet Conflicts to be used as a reference to national and international research in this domain. In our proposal, we will perform an extensive and interdisciplinary research, structured into four main stages, with the goals of: (I) building a consistent theoretical definition of conflicts in the Internet in order to guide their identification; (II) proposing computational methodologies to systematically collect such conflicts on the Internet; (III) analyzing the collected data on these conflicts; (IV) contributing with proposals for the design of public policies to enhance the productive effects of these conflicts in the Internet while expanding the debate about this theme inside the Observatory.
