Abstract

The use of the technical reserve aims to scan the printed collection, published between 1928 and 1999, for opening the access of the Arquivos do Instituto Biológico magazine, which is a journal published by the Instituto Biológico, a unit of the Agência Paulista de Tecnologia dos Agronegócios da Secretaria de Agricultura e Abastecimento do Governo do Estado de São Paulo. In 2000, the journal was released on the website of the institution, and in 2012, joined the SciELO collection from volume 79, number 1. The most recent change occurred in 2015, when it became a continuously published journal, with no issues. The journal covers several areas of knowledge in the agricultural sciences such as Veterinary Medicine and Agronomics and, at the same time, approach their interrelations with the environment and, therefore, is a differential in the scientific scenario. The availability of open and free access of the journal generated by the digitization of the journal's collection, on the Institution's website and on Wikipedia, will allow indexing on the Web of Science and Scopus, and the XML conversion and markup will allow the sending of two more volumes of the journal Arquivos do Instituto Biológico, 2010 (107 articles) and 2011 (95 articles), for SciELO database. Therefore, the digitization and availability of the journal's content, with a view to preserving the entire historical series, will allow this reach on a larger scale, reinforcing the research and national and international scientific communication.
