Testbed platform for industry 4.0: theory, implementation and practice

Abstract

Industry 4.0 is domain that is increasingly being discussed in worldwide proportions, mainly in the industrial and academic environment. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is a highlight because it breaks technological paradigms of the current models of manufacturing systems. Industry 4.0 refers to the environment of digitalization of manufacturing systems using smart technologies, information technology (IT) and data communication. In this context, this research project aims to structure a test platform (Testbed) to demonstrate the concept and operation of Industry 4.0, taking into account areas of management and manufacturing systems. For this proposal, exploratory research will be conducted by literature review, data collection and case study that will support the goal achievement. As a result, this research will structure a reference platform those support Brazilian industries in the visualization of possible Industry 4.0 technologies use in their contexts, besides supporting the realization of future research projects. Moreover, this platform can be used by university for teaching and training of professionals and engineering students in the Industry 4.0 context. (AU)
