Abstract

Fruit growing has been an important alternative economic strategy for the social reproduction of small rural producers, and the region of Dracena is highlighted by the expressiveness of this activity, especially the grape and acerola crops. The fig tree (Ficus carica L.) is a fruit of great importance worldwide, and can be implemented as a new agricultural activity, adding important advantages for the region, both from an economic and social point of view. In conjunction with these factors, the characterization of active germplasm banks of the Ficus genus becomes an important line of research for the improvement of the culture, and it is necessary to gather information about it, mainly in relation to its genetic variability, so that projects of propagation and adequate management are carried out. The aim of this work is to maintain and characterize in vivo the accessions of fig (Ficus carica L.) of the Active Germplasm Bank of the Faculty of Agricultural and Technological Sciences, FCAT / UNESP, Dracena Campus, by means of interest agronomic descriptors and analysis of epigenetic variability between fig accessions due to DNA methylation, in order to subsidize conservation works, genetic improvement and crop production, allowing the recognition of the quality and potential of the species genetic variation. For this purpose, biometric and organoleptic analyzes will be performed on the fruits, in addition, molecular analyzes will be carried out to measure the relative quantification of global methylation between the genomic DNAs of the accessions belonging to the fig BAG, as well as their epigenomic profile. After the evaluations are completed, the data compiled from the accesses will be made available to the academic and scientific environment so that they can be used in future conservation, genetic improvement and ficiculture production.
