Abstract

This project is the development of advanced materials obtained from plant extracts from agro-industrial residues and models based on artificial intelligence for application in the removal and monitoring of pollutants emerging from aqueous media, impacting mainly in the states of São Paulo (proposer) and Rio Grande South (partners). First, the innovative and advanced materials, which consist of functionalized carbon nanotubes and impregnated with Fe nanoparticles will be developed using green synthesis with reuse of agro-industrial residues. These materials will be characterized by a series of techniques to prove their structure. The adsorbent potential of the materials developed will be investigated for emerging contaminants (EC) such as pharmaceuticals and pesticides. Then, the adsorption of CE's by nanotubes will be elucidated by assessing all factors that affect the operation (pH, temperature, adsorbent mass, EC concentration). Equilibrium, thermodynamics, kinetics and mass transfer of adsorption aspects will also be investigated. Possible interactions between materials, desorption and reuse will be checked for repeated cycles. Finally, artificial intelligence tools such as neural networks and neuro-fuzzy will be used to generate predictive models capable of monitoring the concentration of CE's depending on operating conditions. In addition to this, the project also aims to train highly qualified human resources in the institutions involved.
