Floor of forest by-products reconstituted with additions of micro and nanoparticles of metal oxides

Abstract

In recent years, more precisely at pandemic era of Covid-19, building materials based on renewable sources or agroforestry by-products have been gaining attention of the construction market. Since these products have a close relationship with the universal appeal of the United Nations minimizing the environmental impact. In this context, this project aims to develop and evaluate an OSB (Oriented Standard Board) based on forest by-products (Balsa wood - Ochroma pyramidale) with micro or nanoparticles of metal oxides (Al2O3 and ZnO) added as a support layer for engineered wooden floors (EWF), named as OSBalsafloor. The quality assessments will be carried out following the standards' recommendations for OSB and wooden floors. As a result for this project, it is expected to obtain a new bio-based product with micro or nanoparticles added to be used in civil construction. (AU)
