Rorschach depression R-PAS Indicators and SC Depression Index (DEPI) variables

Abstract

Depression is a complex disorder to which many etiologies have been attributed. These causes can be understood by various theoretical conceptualizations, which may encompass physiological and psychological phenomena. The Rorschach method in its more recent productions demonstrates the richness of material with which this method can contribute to personality research, to the clinic, as well as to various other psychologist contexts. However, since the 1990s, the Rorschach index for the calculation of depression through the (DEPI) Comprehensive System has been criticized by several authors for its vulnerability. For this current work, the R-PAS system was chosen (2011). Its authors were concerned with standardization issues, seeking to ensure the universality of the references for the analysis of the protocols and greater precision and validity of the tool. The aim of this research is to conduct a study with patients with Major Depressive Disorder, seeking to explore Rorschach variables that can contribute significantly to the diagnosis of depression. To meet this goal, we will compare the performance of two different groups: 50 patients diagnosed with symptomatic Depressive Disorder according to DSM-V and 50 matched healthy controls. The objective of this study is the analysis of R, F%, MOR (morbid content responses), shading variables group (YTVC '), isolated variables V and C', r * 3 + Par, R8910%, EII -3 and MC-PPD and also to verify the presence of positive DEPI (SC) as well as the variables that compose it in the studied samples. This work, although initial, will be of great relevance to further refine the diagnosis of depression, a disorder that affects and even disables many people. (AU)
