Abstract

The importance of environmental services provided by urban afforestation in cities is increasingly evident. Trees contribute significantly to reducing "heat islands", filtering and sequestering pollutants from the atmosphere, reducing noise intensity, minimizing the impact of rainwater, enhancing the landscape, in addition to providing shelter and food for fauna, significantly improving the quality of life for city dwellers. On the other hand, urban afforestation can cause serious problems, when trees or parts of them fall, which often result in damage to property, interruptions in the supply of energy and communication, traffic interference and even even accidents of the most varied proportions. These risk situations are progressively worsening, due to the aging of the tree population, and the lack of efficient management in its management. In this context, ProparkÒ Paisagismo e Ambiente Ltda., with over fifty years of experience in nature conservation, developed, with the support of the São Paulo Research Foundation - Fapesp - a technological solution to offer the market, a software product based on technical and scientific parameters, as well as on user requirements, combining national and international methodologies in the diagnosis and monitoring of the risk of falling trees. It is a software, with specific programming for data processing (expert system) that proposes a model developed in interactive stages, with object-oriented analysis and programming. The system also has a collaborative module capable of streamlining user requests, improving operational performance in the management of urban trees. Currently, the system is in the commercialization phase. The business plan to be implemented will cover sales to four segments, and the direct approach will initially take place with the public sector - Business to Government-B2G model (city halls); the second category of potential customers involves private companies, which demand efficiency in tree management to provide quality services - Business to Business to Government-B2B2G model (energy and telecommunication, gas, water and sewage, traffic, among others). The third class of clients are enterprises and businesses with objective responsibility for managing their tree patrimony - Business to Business-B2B model (condominiums, industries, clubs, etc.); and, finally, final customers, direct users of the Business to Consumer-B2C model, which includes companies and consultancies specialized in tree management and self-employed professionals. To improve the efficiency of the Arbolink® system and the consequent commercial escalation, complementary functionalities should be developed, significantly increasing the competitiveness of the business. As a result, it is expected to offer potential customers a system with high technology, low acquisition, and operation cost, perfectly adapted to the conditions and demands of urban afforestation managers. In this context, the company Propark® presents this Research Project, with the objective of serving its customers with greater competitiveness, in the task of mapping, determining, and monitoring, with a high degree of assertiveness, the possible risks of falling urban trees, as well as recommend control actions, bringing greater safety and efficiency, in addition to minimizing the subjectivity of the evaluation process by those responsible for urban afforestation management.
