Abstract

Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics have gained more and more importance within the concept of Industry 4.0. Particularly the additive manufacturing technique (3D printing), which has gained increasing value in the pharmaceutical field, due to its potential to generate disruptive innovations in relation to the current medicine manufacturing processes. This project aims to develop a formulation and a manufacturing process for extrudable formulations by additive manufacturing. The methodology involved in the formulation and process development involves a scientific, multidisciplinary and systemic approach, combining knowledge based on literature, experience of professionals in the pharmaceutics, Quality by Design, Veterinary and Regulatory Affairs, and comprising probabilistic studies. The project is expected to result in the generation of an extrudable pharmaceutical formulation and an additive manufacturing process that will allow printing of soft chewable veterinary tablets. (AU)
