Abstract

The violation of human rights in Brazil persists, despite the constitutional recognition of human dignity and human rights. Education is an important way to form subjects of rights capable of looking at this reality and acting in its transformation. Human Rights Education has become mandatory at all levels and modalities of education in the country since 2012 under the National Guidelines for Human Rights Education. Since then, the challenge has been to bring this type of education to classrooms. This project is related to the UN's 4th Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education) and aims to contribute to improving the quality of public education in the state of São Paulo. The objective is to raise and discuss the doubts about Human Rights of Elementary School II and High School students from two state public schools located in São José do Rio Preto. The development of the project is through action research articulating two professors/researchers from the state education network, two undergraduate students and a graduate student. The project is already underway and structured in seven stages: (1) planning, (2) training, (3) awareness and diagnosis, (4) analysis (of data) and action planning, (5) intervention, (6) socialization/dissemination (7) evaluation. Data will be collected anonymously and analyzed with reference to the nature of human rights (civil, political, social, economic, cultural) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. (AU)
