Operational scale validation of the SOFIEN SFN03B rotor for composting sugar-alcohol industry waste

Abstract

In order to contribute to the solution of the correct destination of organic waste in line with the national solid waste policy (PNRS - Law nº 12.305/10 and CETESB Nº 126/2021/P), Sofien will manufacture and sell composting implements with specific rotors to work in the composting of different wastes, using numerical methods to develop their products. As a proof of concept in Fapesp's Phase 1, we developed a small-scale rotor, applying the law of similarity, to be applied to urban compost based on sewage sludge, tree shavings and leftovers from street markets and CEASA. At this stage, the performance of this methodology was proven. For Phase 2, SOFIEN proposes to design an implement to be coupled to the agricultural tractor, which can receive rotors for different types of compounds and launch in the national market. Given the demand made in the Fapesp Entrepreneurship course, the implement must be able to work using a common tractor, i.e., without the need to use a "creeper" (super reducer) to reduce displacement speed, dispensing with the exclusive dedication of this tractor for this operation. For Fapesp Phase 2, Sofien will develop a rotor, for sugarcane plant residues, which during the interviews on Fapesp's Entrepreneur program was eager for a solution like the one here presented. (AU)
