Economic Landscapes in peripheral territories: ecologies of circulation and redistribution in Olinda (Pernambuco)

Abstract

The broader objective of the research is to carry out a survey of the economic landscapes of peripheral territories in Olinda (PE), in order to identify the circulation and redistribution of resources that have intensified or developed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research aims to: a) develop a collaborative research approach, incorporating traditional and local knowledge in the co-production of data; b) describe the existing experiences and initiatives that engage communities in responding to crisis situations such as the Covid-19 pandemic; c) systematize the lessons learned in peripheral territories in Olinda on how to leverage local public spaces to face long-term problems such as pre-existing social inequalities and structural violence associated with racism; d) describe in accessible language, through infographics, the ecologies of circulation and distribution of resources that have intensified or developed during the pandemic in peripheral territories. As a result, the project hopes to contribute to global debates on the Covid-19 pandemic recovery, through the establishment of national and international partnerships in topics related to collaborative methodologies for the co-production of data and the development of green sustainable local economies.
