Expansion of the Research Infrastructure of the Laboratory of Biofilms and Bacteriophages of the University of Sorocaba (PhageLab-UNISO)

Abstract

The Graduate Programs stricto sensu in Pharmaceutical Sciences - PPGCF of UNISO, Masters and Doctorate levels (approved by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - Capes back in 13/12/2007 and 11/12/2015, respectively) and Professional in Technological and Environmental Processes - PPGPTA of UNISO (approved by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - Capes back in 2013 and 2019, respectively), encompasses professionals from different areas, such as physicists, biochemists, pharmacists, food engineers, among others. Several UNISO research laboratories support the scientific research carried out by these Graduate Programs, such as the Laboratory of Biofilms and Bacteriophages (PhageLab), Laboratory of Acquisition and Processing of Images and Signals (LAPISUS), Laboratory of Nuclear Physics (LAFINAU), Laboratory of Toxicological Research (LAPETOX), Laboratory of Biomaterials and Nanotechnology (LaBNUS), among others. This project aims to improve the flow of scientific research work carried out at the Laboratory of Biofilms and Bacteriophages at the University of Sorocaba (PhageLab). More specifically, we are requesting the acquisition of a set of small equipments and reagents/consumables routinely used in bacteriophage isolation procedures and storage of prepared bacteriophage samples and suspensions: 1x Minicentrifuge from EPPENDORF brand (for Eppendorf tubes); 1x Microcentrifuge from KASVI brand; 1x refrigerator; consumables such as: Petri plates (90x15mm), TSB culture medium, bacteriological agar, quartz cuvettes and plastic disposable cuvettes, Stericup" filtration systems, protein molecular weight markers, and general reagents needed for SDS-PAGE electrophoresis. We are sure that, with the acquisition of these small equipments and consumables, the number of research students (interns, scientific initiation, TCCs, Master's and Doctoral students) welcomed in this laboratory, as well as the quality of the research work carried out there, will certainly grow. This Proposal was prepared considering FAPESP's rules for the use of resources from the Institutional Technical Reserve granted by FAPESP. (AU)
