Abstract

Multifunctional DC-AC converters have been consolidated as indispensable devices for the integration of distributed energy resources (REDs) due to their ability to add flexibility to the management of energy injection into the grid, and also to promote auxiliary services for the improvement of power quality (PQ) at the connection point of the DERs. However, from the grid point of view, in particular microgrids, a key issue that needs to be addressed is the distributed control to coordinate the operation of heterogeneous multifunctional inverters (i.e., single-phase, two-phase and three-phase) immersed in the same micro-grid. In this network configuration, the control system must share both active and reactive power and also unbalances and harmonics. Furthermore, the control strategy must be performed considering not only the remaining capacity of the converters but also respecting the nominal rated of the converters and the PQ restrictions. This critical issue will be approached in this project considering three-phase microgrids containing single-phase, two-phase and three-phase converters operating under unbalanced and distorted conditions. To achieve the aforementioned problem, the approach of the present project foresees the study and development of innovative strategies for coordinated and distributed control of heterogeneous multifunctional inverters to minimize losses and improve PQ through the shared cooperation of harmonics and imbalances, as well as the intelligent integration of DERs.
