Virtual research structure as a strategy for strengthening inter-institutional academic collaboration

Abstract

The interaction with the academic community, national and international, is fundamental for the development of collaborative research actions. Academic collaboration is currently one of the performance indicators in international comparisons. Communication with society is also important, especially when it is engaged in research activities at the university. For this to happen, it is essential that there is a research structure capable of providing the environment for inter-institutional, national and international, collaborations to take place with quality. One of the ways to create ambience for interinstitutional academic cooperation is the structuring of spaces with equipment that allow virtual meetings to take place. For this, videoconferencing equipment must be of high quality. Although each EEUSP department has a room equipped with multimedia equipment, it does not meet the technical standard necessary to support quality calls, whether in meetings of researchers from the various EEUSP research groups, or in videoconferences with other national and international research centers, or even with other instances of society. This proposal was prepared with the aim of supporting the collective research infrastructure with regard to national and international academic-scientific collaboration, and articulation with sectors of society, in order to encourage the consolidation of inter-institutional partnerships and to benefit projects of research developed in the unit and the dissemination of results. The restructuring may: 1) Serve as an electronic research infrastructure for its researchers, fostering the establishment of collaborative inter-institutional relationships in research, national and international; 2) Optimize the dissemination of information related to carrying out research at EEUSP; 3) Serve as a tool for disseminating scientific knowledge to society, through activities carried out in a virtual environment. In this way, the acquisition of equipment for videoconferencing aims to provide high quality audio and video resources in 05 rooms at EEUSP to meet the hybrid activities carried out by the research groups and guarantee the remote participation, when necessary, of external members and representatives of partner research institutions at the meetings.
