Abstract

The present study aims to evaluate in long-term (T0, T6 and T12) the enzymatic activity (zymography and in situ zymography), the bond strength, the collagen quality profile, and the nanoleakage in the adhesive interface of carious and non-carious teeth prepared with diamond burs or Er:YAG laser and restored using different adhesive techniques (self-etching and etching and washing). 120 non-carious human molars and 120 extracted carious human molars will be sectioned to expose the dentin surfaces. The teeth will be assigned to one of the following groups, according to the type of preparation / adhesive technique to which they will be submitted: G1 - Burs/etch-and-rinse; G2 - Burs/self-conditioning; G3 - Er:YAG laser/etch-and-rinse; G4 - Er:YAG/self-etching laser. The bond strength (¼TBS), nanoleakage, Micro-raman, zymography and in situ zymography evaluations will be performed immediately (T0), 6 months after (T6) and twelve months (T12) after aging in artificial saliva. Statistical analysis will be performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) depending on the evaluation method. (AU)
