van der Waals heterostructures for optoeletronics and quantum technology

Abstract

In this project, we aim to combine the engineering of defects in monolayer and twisted heterobilayer of 2D materials to investigate the generation of high-quality single-photon emitters in novel quantum materials. For that matter, we propose: (i) to explore different twisted hybrid vdW heterostructures by mechanically stacking distinct layered materials, such as semiconducting (TMD), insulators (natural crystals such as Talc or hBN) and emerging magnetic materials (CrSBr, CrPS4), and (ii) to investigate the optical, valley, and magnetic properties of twisted vdW heterostructures as well as properties of quantum-dot-like emitters from those systems.
