Abstract

As a continuation of the activity of the thematic project “Meso-scale Hydrography” COROAS (FAPESP 91/00542-7), the present research project aims to understand the structure and the characteristics of the flow of the current in Brazil and its transportation of masses of water along the outline of the west coast of the South Atlantic. Data generated by COROAS will be analyzed and reduced for the initialization of a numerical model in the study of the dynamic of the current in Brazil and its meanders. The numerical model to be used is the Princeton Ocean Model (POM). This research project represents a bilateral cooperation endeavor to be implemented in conjunction with Prof. Jerry L. Miller, of the Old Dominion University, in Norfolk, Virginia (USA). (AU)
