Acquisition of equipment to adapt the infrastructure of the Technical Laboratory of Informatics - Datacenter

Abstract

The use of the institutional technical reserve (ITR) aims to acquire two new servers to replace the two old ones, which are in critical condition. The replacement aims to improve the infrastructure of the Technical Laboratory of Informatics - Datacenter. The Data Center has equipment, network infrastructure and is responsible for the entire technological area of the institution. The servers allocated in this laboratory are used for the proper functioning of both the network and the systems used in research and services of the school, such as: database, imaging system (Synapse), systems development, auxiliary unit systems, among others. These systems are important for data extraction for statistical analysis and data storage of research projects. To meet all the demand of teaching, research and extension, the school has seven servers (computers), five (PowerEdge 2590) with more than 14 years of use and two (PowerEdge R630) with at least 8 years. Due to the time of use, these servers, especially the PowerEdge 2590, do not adequately meet the need, in addition to being unfeasible to upgrade the hardware, as there are no spare parts on the market and with the constant technological updates, it is increasingly unfeasible to use this equipment. Therefore, the FMVZ Congregation approved the RTI application plan for the replacement of at least two of these servers, in order to improve the infrastructure of the datacenter and its conditions to meet the demands of researchers.
