Abstract
The Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) is committed to enhancing its network infrastructure to meet the growing demands for connectivity, security, and availability in the research and development activities carried out in the four national laboratories that comprise it. This project, titled "Advancing Network Infrastructure: Proposal for Internet Connectivity Expansion with Rednesp," aims to strengthen CNPEM's connection capacity and network infrastructure. The initiative involves the replacement of the optical fiber connecting CNPEM to Unicamp and the acquisition of the necessary items listed in section 3 of the project, totaling a budget of R$ 149,226.00. The funding source will be the Technical Reserve for Rednesp Connectivity (RT-Rednesp) 2023. Once approved by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), this proposal will bring significant benefits to CNPEM. Researchers, students, and other professionals will have fast and reliable access to the Internet, facilitating the use of external resources, collaboration with colleagues, and efficient sharing of large volumes of data. Furthermore, this expansion will contribute to the security and availability of CNPEM's network, preventing traffic bottlenecks and ensuring a stable and reliable network experience. The project's implementation will follow the proposed schedule during the project's validity period, and it will include the replacement of the optical fiber and the acquisition of the necessary GBIC interfaces to enhance the connectivity infrastructure. This will help drive scientific and technological development and support innovation in energy, materials, and life sciences, promoting scientific advancement in research conducted at the country's largest research center.
