Abstract

This project presents a novel approach to study galaxy evolution by investigating the stellar population properties within different structural components of galaxies, utilizing data from the J-PLUS and SDSS-IV MaNGA IFU survey. Moving beyond the conventional focus on radial gradients and the simplistic bulge-plus-disk dichotomy, it aims to conduct a comprehensive comparison of integrated stellar ages and metallicities across various galactic structures. This is achieved through a novel non-parametric SED-decomposition method, which avoids the assumptions inherent in traditional parametric techniques and offers a more inclusive analysis of a broad selection of galaxy samples, including those experiencing mergers and other disruptive events. By leveraging the power of modern GPU parallelization, our approach resonates well with the current needs of increasing astrophysical model complexity without sacrificing computational performance.
